CABIN
FINSE, NORWAY
Situated at an altitude of 1222 meters overlooking one of Norway´s largest glaziers, the climate plays a main role in shaping the architecture. A simple and traditional shape, located alongside the main wind directions at the site, creates no barriers for the wind and the snow. The cabin sits as a rock in the landscape, and it makes it easy to predict where the snow gatheres.
The main focus in the project is to highlight the different sceneries and to enhance the contrast of being warm inside and overlooking the harsh and cold environment outside. The simple shapes and the use of materials aims to let the existing natural qualities and sceneries play the main role.
